Cosimo Cella was born in Rovereto, Italy in 1986.

Always particularly drawn and interested in visual arts Cosimo started painting very young and approached photography during art school but abandoned it not long after.

Many years later though Cosimo returned actively to photography and during a trip to Paris his passion for photography changed into something deeper.

Fully committed to photography Cosimo now lives in Paris where he hopes to realize his visions.

These photos in a way bring to the extreme the portrait.

These are pure portraits to me, revelations in a way: I had no desire to be descriptive nor truthful to the visible.

Perhaps these are more artistic photos but I always thought that fashion is the only other “place” where artistic work could be welcome.

Fashion photography can be art if we give it a chance.

In my work I do not use Photoshop and these photos are not an exception.

My technique involves traditional camera work and traditional darkroom techniques applied to the digital age.

In these photos I decided to focus on the person but without forgetting elegance which is vital in fashion.

Most of these photos are portraits: my vision of fashion is truthfully more about the woman and her character.

The style, the clothes, the makeup, the hairstyle exist to reveal, magnify, amplify the person.

Peter Lindbergh used to say “the best fashion photo is a portrait” and hopefully this is still true today…I hope that I was able to “honor” this vision with my work.

I would like to clarify that in my work I do not use Photoshop.
