Finaliste Prix Picto de la Mode 2020 : Chiron Duong

I am Chiron Duong ( real Name: Dat Duong ). Born in 1996 in Vietnam. I went to architectural college in Vietnam and now i’m working as an architect and a fashion photographer. The inspiration in my fashionable works comes from the Vietnamese or Asian traditional culture that I have learned from the passion and people. The Asian tones are not only extremely flamboyant, floating but also generous, ruminant, and meaningful. In other ways, i want to transmit the feelings of mystery of folk, faith, and religion in the lives of ASIANS by colors and spiritual fashionable photos as well as the interference of Western and Eastern culture, especially Vietnamese culture. I practice many techniques in photography to create emotion in my works instead of trying to create a visual impress.

I use 2 different deep color tones of Asian calligraphy painting that makes us feel about the metaphor. For example: black, white, grey, and blue… tells a story about human mental connection with the universe. That is one of the philosophy of Asian people. I use multiple exposures and slow shutter speed in photography to catch the movement of models. Therefore, I can take the dreamy photos that show the connection of human and nature (human- animals; human- universe; human- plants). In other words, the work is also a way to link Eastern spirit and modern Western techniques.
